And last but not least!
O Brother, Where Art Thou? is one of my absolute favourite films of all time. I think the epic soundtrack has definitely attributed to that coveted medal!
This film introduced me to Americana music which I grew to fall in love with. Dan Tyminski's voice on 'I am a man of constant sorrow' is Chef's kiss!
Then there's "Hard time killing floor blues" by Chris Thomas King who plays Tommy Johnson in the film, a play on the Robert Johnson story, who sells his soul to the devil at the crossroads. The song is hauntingly beautiful.
This soundtrack also sent me down the rabbit hole of Gillian Welch and Allison Krauss' back catalog which I grew to enjoy so much. I adore all the songs on this album and I implore you to please watch the film and get that soundtrack on repeat! I'll link a couple of video's below to ensnare you!
